Apple distributes fourth visionOS 1.2 developer beta

The fourth build of visionOS 1.2 surfaces after the third, which Apple issued on April 24. The second arrived on April 16, while the first appeared on April 2.

The new build is build number 21O5580a, replacing the third beta, build number 21O5570d.

The second build's release notes mentioned changes were made to fix an issue with FaceTime call synchronization and notification interruption issues for some apps.

The last major release, visionOS 1.1, introduced elements such as mobile device management support, Contact Key verification, and Passcode changes. Changes were made to StoreKit and Swift UI, Persona generation was updated, and there were improvements to EyeSight graphics, among other alterations.

Users require a registered Apple developer account to access the beta for visionOS, but it can be a free account rather than a paid version. Installation on the Apple Vision Pro hardware itself is relatively easy once the account has been acquired.

How to install the visionOS beta on Apple Vision Pro

1. Open Settings
2. Select General.
3. Enable Beta Updates
4. Select visionOS Developer Beta.

Developers can also able to use the updated visionOS beta within Xcode, in its visionOS simulator.

Be aware that there is currently no process to revert from a beta version of visionOS to a release version, unless you happen to own a developer's strap. As such, AppleInsider does not recommend the use of the visionOS beta by non-developers at this time.
